There are a lot of specific Oldham charities. Oldham Cancer Care  is one that doesn't get as much attention as maybe it should.  Oldham Carers or Oldham Young Carers.

Dr Kershaws is the main one which springs to mind.  They provide a fantastic service for many families in Oldham.

Francis House Childrens Hospice are always looking for support, although based in Didsbury they look after many children from Oldham. The man who runs it lives in Saddleworth and is minister of a church in the centre of Oldham. Been ther many times it is a fantastic place.

The RSPCA Rhodes bank is a local charity and not supported by nationals money raised is done locally through the hard work and dedication of the staff and volunteers who run the charity shops or any other fundraising and donations. You may have seen the new report of the fire at Booths on Fridays Rhodes bank has now become home to lots of rabbits, birds, chickens and others animals who will all need feeding.  We would love you to support them in any way possible.

Can I also put in a good word for all the local brass bands who again recieve no funding they are all looking for donations to help them with the cost of uniforms, instruments and music. They all rely on local charitable donations. I personally suppport the Greenfield band. Where my children learnt to play.

HI David

Only just seen this post, The Oldham Mountain Rescue Team are always looking for help to raise funds.  We are on call 365 days a year and all give all our time for free to help people in trouble. we dont only work "on the hill", we also help the Ambulance service when the weather is bad and when they cant get to a patient, in a park or on Farm land.

Sorry not Oldham based but I know on called Once Upon a Smile founded by Danny Miller (aka Arron from Emmerdale) and they raise money for terminally ill children and there families
