Hello fellow OBN's,

I am looking at putting a charity event together for the local Oldham business community in aid of a local charity (yet to be confirmed).

Intially I could do with your support in entering a team or supporting the event in any way you can. I will also be asking the Chron and our local police to enter.

The expected date of the event will be in September just after the school holidays.

The tournament itself will be a five-a-side event:

- Squads of seven

- champions league format (Groups and then knock-outs)

- Trophy for the winning team, and medals for winners and runners up.

Thank you in advance!

Great idea,

my playing days are behind me but I know of an ex-pro footballer on the OBN who might still have some boots.

Local businesses may be able to make their own teams who may aslo want to sponsor with kits etc.

Proto-col could even make their own suggestions with nutrition etc.

I would like to introduce the rule of no ringers!!!!

I would love to be a part of this...

Just a few days ago myself and Phil Kelly where talking about setting up a weekly match for the OBN for those who wanted to join? 5 a side indoor at oldham sports centre. If anybody is interested in this for one hour of one night in the week then let me know.

This charity tournament would be on a larger scale and I would love to be a part of it too.

Thank you.

I would appreciate if you could reccomend companies that you think we could approach to take part. I will be speaking to the police to put in a local team also.

Hi Asif,

If you are loopking to get an OBN team or two together I would be well up for this.

Phil

Asif,

Not sure I am the footballing type, but if you need any admin help please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Jo

Hi Asif

My football skills are not too good and I would definitely be a bit of a liability.

What I can offer, if you are interested and I am quite happy to do, is any photography of the teams and the action.

Deborah

At this stage I could do with a recommendation for the cash-flow. When I do this event in Manchester we have an insurance charity where I get the teams to send the money. That is prior to us writing a final cheque minus cost to the end charity.

The expenditure is for the venue, trophies and medals. I don't think it is worth setting up a charity just for this?

Any ideas would be appreciated?

Asif

More than happy for us to do the management on the day as it is for a good cause.

We have expereince of running tournaments on a regular basis so can help with the fixtures, formats and management on the day.

Can also get some referees if this will keep your costs down and increase what Dr Kershaws get!
