What do you call a group of Willwriters?

Posted on March 25, 2011 at 12:17pm 4 Comments

This week was the AGM for the Institute of Professional Willwriters.  It was held at the NEC in Birmingham and about 200 Willwriters from up and the country attended.  As sat amongst the esteemed company of my fellow Willwriters, I wondered if anyone had a collective noun to describe the group.

There isn't of course, but there should be.  There should be a collective name for every group of business people.

What would you suggest as the collective noun for the group you work…

2011 New Year - Yes I Will

Posted on January 6, 2011 at 10:03am 0 Comments

It is a cliche; the start of the New Year is a great time to do the things you know you should have done last year.

Making out your Will is a task that is easy to put off until another time.

If you are self employed or private limited company or partnership, it is important to consider what happens to the business if you should suddenly be no longer around to run it.  I am first to admit that thinking about one's demise is not a great deal of fun, but in reality it happens to…

The Open Day idea seemed a good one. It was perceived as a way to promote my business to the Saddleworth public (and slightly beyond) and get my face in front of them rather than waiting for the phone to ring. I planned everything and spent quite a bit of money on advertising and materials to get the image I was comfortable with.

I asked myself the question 'What does success of the Open Day look like?' and decided that signing up 25 clients would be 'success'.

The result was…

Hi Ray

Apologies I cannot make our meet tomorrow as I have been called to client last minute for most of the day.  I'll be in touch and we can arrange another time.

Sorry this has taken so long Ray. As you may have guessed I have not been using the network recently, however I am starting a new job in Oldham soon so am going to be more active on it now! I saw that you are running open afternoons in Lees every Thursday - I may pop in with the wife to get the lowdown again on getting a will made.
Will you be attending the social on the 27th?

Ray, thanks for your friend request and thoughts about encouraging people to make a will. Research has shown that people always place greater emphasis on good things happening to them, not bad - hence why few people make wills and many people play the lottery. Marketing may need to be directed at key influencers, family members and close friends! Interesting to hear what your marketing plan is and have you done any research into people completing wills. I'm sure national data shows this is not an issue specific to Oldham residents.
