Clough Manor
I wonder if at the same networking event Chantelle could explain why she gets contractors to do work for her and refuses to pay the bills even with a warrent from the Court. as far as i was aware this was not an ethical business practice, but maybe all this can be explained.

I am less than a week away from being best man at my musical side-kick’s wedding!
I am less than a week away from being best man at my musical side-kick’s wedding!
I say musical side-kick because if you’ve ever gone to watch either of us play at some point over the last 20 odd years or so, we are usually next to each other on the stage. We’ve played in many bands together over the years and I suppose in one respect, he’s a bit of a comfort zone to me (and also my worst critic, if/when I drop a bollock!)
Now I don’t get nervous about things in life, as a…

The most affordable, ethical advertising medium for your business!
The most affordable, ethical advertising medium for your business!
When Nifty UK was first incorporated, our vision was to ensure that what we provided was affordable and ethical to all SME’s. Let’s face it, the service that we offer is exemplary, regardless of if you pitch it against any other medium or not! Having noticed a number of blogs and news items on the “double dip” recession over the weekend, I felt I needed to make our position within the marketplace crystal clear! So read…

How would you re-invent your image - personal or professional?
I read an interesting article last week about how women of a certain age are the ‘queens of reinvention’. Major personal upheavals, like the ‘empty nest syndrome’, can apparently instigate a major change. It’s accepted that women like to reinvent their look every few years, taking inspiration from celebrities like Helen Mirren, Carol Vorderman and Madonna. In truth, I can’t see myself wearing a leotard and fish-net stockings (Madonna-style) now, as I’ve never done so before!…

My work is dependent on my dog handling skills, my dog training skills and people skills. I am a former Dogstrust Kennel Manager and managed a 160 capacity rehoming centre in the Northeast. I then qualified as a Veterinary Nurse and worked in Practice for 16 years. I have recently been accepted as a Full member of The Canine and Feline Behaviour Association.
I work together with other professional bodies in the canine world that recognise my experience so we can work together in a…

iPhone or Blackberry?
Despite the vast number of phones available, now that I’m beginning to consider an upgrade from my ‘dinosaur phone’ (our teenage son’s description), my choice seems straightforward. Do I opt for an iPhone or a Blackberry?
Being honest, I’ve been putting off the decision as too difficult. My last phone needed replacing because it had been dropped on the floor too many times and ended up in a bucket of water! As you can imagine, I must…

Pondering
This morning I walked my son to school (now that's something new I hear you all cry!) but yes I did, there were no time constraints plus no car today so it seemed like such a good idea. It took me 1 hour both ways and what a great start to the day, the dog is extremely happy and after running around the garden too is now resting under my desk as I type.
As I was walking back I followed some teenage girls on their way to…

Are you putting your business at risk??
Health and safety is a huge part of todays businesses and is taken very seriously, the day to day running of any business is full of risks and possible injuries. Having your staff and employees covered is essential for any employer as claims and fines for breaches of health and safety aswell as sick days and time off due to injury cost our economy around 1 billion per year. If you and your business are not complient with the legislation of the hse you could be risking more than just a fine…

Self Doubt
I had already been through all the reasons why not to go full steam ahead on my business and couldn't come up with anything that was concrete enough. I am good at what I do, I know what I am talking about and I am completely passionate in my beliefs, yes lots of hard work and long hours with hardly any income for quite awhile but I am a fighter and know it will be worth it!
Financially we haven't been in a great position due to my redundancy from a great job and taking on a low paid…

I'm on the hunt for sponsors both old and new, and we have opportunities to suit all budgets. Come and see me for a coffee and a chat and let's see if we can work together next season and beyond!! I want to build great, mutually beneficial relationships off the field. Come and join us..

Friday Funny - Darwin Award
The Darwin Awards salute the improvement of the human genome by honouring those who accidentally get hurt or depart this mortal coil in really stupid ways.
This unfortunate man was involved in an accident at work. He filled out an insurance claim and sent it to the insurance company. The insurance company contacted him and asked for more information. This was his response:
"I am writing in response to your request for…

A new name and a new direction for Oldham Mums in Business
I have given the Oldham Mums in Business group a bit of a revamp, including a new name, Bizzy Mummies. This is because I do not want to restrict membership of the group to Oldham businesses.
I have set up a Facebook group too at www.facebook.com/groups/354377607948799/. Please feel free to join it and invite any other mums in business you know.
I am lining up a programme of events featuring guest speakers. One of the…
