Well that was a blast! The sun shone at the Sunlight Twestival and Chaddy the Owl, a clown, dancing, football, and cupcakes galore all made for a fab event. Over at Boundary Park, the compere, the fun, the prizes, the Twiz, the Eurovision style link-up, Bob the dog's demos, and of course the money raised made for a great evening. We could not have hoped for more from Oldham's inaugural Twestival! And all these shenanigans were in aid of Oldham Mountain Rescue.

So after all that hard work from the team of volunteers, Twestival Sunlight and Twestival After Dark were both big successes. Local tweeters in and around Oldham got to meet face to face, many for the first time, and share a pizza whilst trying to outbid each other on the charity auction.

It was Oldham's first major tweet-up and possibly the first Twestival in the north west outside of Manchester. And didn't we do well team? We did a fine job of showing that Oldhamers are a sociable lot who are keen to adopt social media and have very deep pockets when there's a worthy charity involved.

Totals are still to be announced but it's a healthy figure to say the least. If you couldn't make it yesterday or last night, you missed a good laugh, but here's the good news, you still have a chance to donate! We have a Just Giving page set up that is open until Thursday 31st, so do what you can - http://www.justgiving.com/Twestival-Oldham

You can see the money rise on our Blue Peter style totaliser here - http://oldham.twestival.com/

All people and businesses who volunteered their time, skills, services and goodies, give yourselves a shout out. We'll carry on name checking everyone on Twitter here , and the Facebook page here

So who's on the organising team for 2012?
